When Robert Smith walked in he was discouraged and thoroughly disheartened. "Smitty" was an architect by education and
early experience but his firm had hit a rough patch,  and there was a pink slip with his final paycheck. Worse, there were no
similar positions available, and he did not have the financial reserves to wait for an opening.

With the help of a friend, Robert landed a post in a completely unrelated field, financial trading at the Mercantile Exchange.
He was making a good income, it was exciting work in an invigorating atmosphere, and time passed. About eight years worth
of time. Then he parted company with that organization, and needed to find employment.

Increasingly, Robert had been yearning for his first professional love, architecture. And, there were several "perfect"
positions available. He selected three specialty search firms and arranged consultations to explore his possibilities. No dice,
    times three.

His despair was almost palpable when he sat by my desk. He told me he knew he "had to face reality," that savvy
professionals at three different search firms had flatly informed him that his architectural background was "outdated" and that
he had "no chance" of obtaining interviews in that field. That was devastating news, but he had a family to support. He
instructed me to prepare his resume and support material to focus on his financial-area experience, and that he would "just
have to forget about" his architectural career.

When he returned the next day to pick up his material, he was surprised and encouraged to find that I had prepared an
alternate version of the Objective and Summary for his resume, and a corresponding change in one paragraph of his cover
letter. This would allow him to seek a position in architecture, without missing more likely opportunities in financial areas.

Although his work in financial trading was not generally relevant, the experience did include transferable skills that could
enhance and broaden his architectural qualifications. This was reflected in the alternate Summary of Qualifications, and
Robert soon landed an interview with a small architectural firm.

He was ecstatic when he called to thank me for "going the extra mile." His new boss at the architectural firm had expressed
great enthusiasm for the "additional dimension" Robert's financial experience would bring to his job responsibilities. I love a
    happy ending.

Pricing is based on time and work required for a project.

Resume & cover letter: Starting at less than $50 (entry-level data sheets). Although there is
no such thing as an "average" resume, the average price range for a one-page resume and
cover letter is $125 to $140. For a one and one half to two-page resume and cover letter,
the average price range is $150 to $200.The price for a resume and cover letter when
ordered together as a single project is a bit lower than when separately ordered.
Support material: Follow up letter, salary history, reference sheet; when ordered with a
resume and cover letter, $10 - $15 each. Ordered as separate projects, $25 - $35 each.

Professional Bio-sketch: Prices range from less than $100 for a brief high-lights treatment
    (sort of a "bio-blurb") to $250 - $400 for a brochure presentation. If a more extensive
profile is needed, price is determined by the amount of material, time and work required.

Business Plans, Proposals, Grants: A very broad price range, from several hundred to
several thousand dollars, depending on the breadth of the project, amount of research
involved, time and work required to complete the work. Please contact me for a "no
strings" discussion about the purpose and parameters of the type of plan, proposal or grant
you're interested in (use the "Contact" page link or email merryjwhitney@sbcglobal.net).
